As a Biological Dentist Dr. Taylor bases his oral health treatment on whole body wellness.
Our unique approach to dentistry allows us to see you in the context of your whole body health. We recognize the impact of dental materials, nutrition, genetics, stress and overall lifestyle on your oral health and the reciprocal relationship. These factors affect each of us in a unique way and to a greater or lesser degree. As a Biological Dentist, Dr. Taylor helps you consider how these factors might be influencing your oral health and overall wellness.
What makes a Biological Dentist unique?
The first and most important distinction of a Biological Dentist is that we recognize that each individual’s body as its own unique ecosystem. And as an ecosystem, it has the difficult task of maintaining balance — or it will get sick. Due to the uniqueness of each individual system any treatment we render potentially has the ability to bring your system more into balance or more out of balance.
We take the time to get to know you and the way that your body responds to the things that all bodies are exposed to: for example, pathogens, chemicals, toxins, stress, and/or nutrition. We want our services to bring you more into balance, not less. Hippocrates has been quoted as saying that “It is more important to know what sort of person has a disease than to know what sort of disease a person has”. So as we work with you and your primary care physician, we can determine how best to proceed with your oral health treatment to optimize your whole body health.
Specific Biological Services that we offer.
Mercury Free Fillings–
We place no “silver”/mercury fillings. Dr. Taylor has researched and selected fillings materials (composite and ceramic) products which minimize byproducts in the body. Our fillings are tooth colored, which many patients appreciate for their aesthetic appearance in addition to the bio-compatible benefits.
Safe Mercury Exposure/IAOMT Protocol —
When Dr. Taylor removes old amalgam (mercury) fillings he uses the most current practices available for safer mercury removal to reduce the amount of toxic Mercury vapors and particles that you and our staff are exposed to. Our office has advanced training in Safer Mercury Removal, and Dr. Taylor has completed the rigorous training needed to be distinguished as an Accredited Member of the International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology (IAOMT).
Bio-compatible Materials Test —
Because no two patients are alike, we offer this test to see if you have any existing allergies or sensitivities to dental materials. (Clifford Materials Reactivity Testing)
Biomimetic Restorations —
Biomimetic Restorations involve restoring teeth in a way that imitates your tooth’s natural function, so the filling acts more like a natural tooth.
Oral pH Monitoring —
Acid can dissolve the protective enamel layer covering your teeth. The more acidic your oral pH is, the more susceptible your teeth are to the bacteria responsible for tooth decay. There are many factors that affect your oral pH; diet, stress and exercise are a few of them. Our oral pH is directly related to the health of our teeth.
